MANUP! A Practical Guide to Being a Dad edition by Dennis Daniel Religion Spirituality eBooks

MANUP! – A Practical Guide to Being a Dad is a straightforward exposition of some of the challenges that Dads face and a practical explanation of how they can re-build their role in today’s society. The book is a frank, often humorous review of the issues that families and fathers face. MANUP! also shares some practical guidance on how to raise children to be successful and productive adults.
Written in simple prose, MANUP! is especially suitable for Dads who are looking for a refresher course in practical matters and for those young men who need a little assistance as they struggle to become good Dads. The book is built around stories and examples from a wide variety of settings and from lessons learned while watching and speaking to hundreds of fathers.
Beginning with the introduction, Dennis explains how his own upbringing has shaped his parenting philosophy. He also shares how the partnership with his wife has helped them in shaping their own children’s lives and attitudes towards parenting. Furthermore, he explains how children model and reflect what they see and how, through example, parenting skills are passed from one generation to the next.
The early chapters explain the criticality of the role that men need to play in the formation of their families and their children. He also points out some of the weaknesses that exist today in the family and why Dads need to MANUP and demonstrate leadership in order to help alleviate some of the ills of society.
Dennis then walks the reader through a series of topics ranging from setting rules and positive behavior, through the challenges of the teen years. He ends with the positive affirmation that forgiveness and doing your best is critical in becoming a successful father. The topics discussed are critical to the family today and provide some much needed guidance to help assure that future generations have a solid foundation on which to build their own families.
Each chapter can be read as an independent commentary or re-read, when the time is appropriate, for dealing with a sticky parenting situation. There are also a series of MANUP Memos, which serve to highlight key takeaways from each chapter. Although some of the topics in the book are very serious, he uses a lighthearted, but direct, style to get the point across that Dads really do need to set positive examples. This will help enable their children to grow into healthy, productive adults and learn proper parenting skills.
Understanding that young men may be the least likely to read a heavy, theoretical book, MANUP! is written to reach out to men and women of all ages and backgrounds. He encourages the readers to share the book and the message with others. In the final summary, Dennis challenges men to MANUP, shoulder their responsibilities as Dads and to go the extra mile by sharing this entertaining, yet sobering, read with men that are facing the challenging, but rewarding, role of a Dad!
Dennis Daniel is an experienced business coach and public speaker. He is available for speaking engagements in order to share and spread the MAN UP message!

If you are a father looking to be the best dad you can be and raise your kids to live healthy, happy, productive, and successful lives, you can scarcely find a better book than Manup! Before I tell you what it is let me tell you what it's not. It's not new age psychobabble with modern theories for raising kids written by some pin-headed professor in an ivory tower trying to impress other pin-headed professors. It also is not a bible-thumping sermon written by a pastor or priest. It is however, a philosophy for child rearing with common-sense principals that have held the test of time and was written by a Godly man with a great deal of wisdom. Read it. Profit by it.Product details

MANUP! A Practical Guide to Being a Dad edition by Dennis Daniel Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This is absolutely a fantastic and necessary read for all men! The author hits the nail right in the head with all of his points. He drives home a number of really important topics that need to be addressed in today's world, and he does it in a way that pulls no punches. I would highly recommend this book to everyone, but it would be especially helpful for adult men about to become fathers, or fathers with young children. ManUp guys!
As a father of three and a Catholic man, I found this book very refreshing. I appreciate and admire Dennis' frank candor and direct approach. He tackles some tough issues and topics but does so in a common sense, no-nonsense way that in this day and age was encouraging to read. He pulls no punches and tells it like it is. If you want a guidebook for what you can do as a man to be a better husband, father, and male leader, then you should read this book. I liked the conversational tone in which it is written. The chapters were short which made it easy to read in short sittings. I knocked it out in a few nights. Great read!
"MAN UP! A Practical Guide to Being a Dad" is written from a common sense, "guy speak" perspective and outlines some basic but insightful tools on how to be an effective dad. It begins with how the overall success of society relies upon the strength of the family and how to put time-tested fathering techniques into action.
The author writes as if he is speaking directly to you and uses simple principles and examples to explain his points. At the end of each chapter, the author uses "MAN UP! Memos" to summarize the chapter with three or four succinct points to drive home the basics. As a result, MAN UP! is incredibly easy to digest. (For those familiar with the common metaphor, MAN UP! neither gives you "fish" or the tackle to catch them, but it will definitely teach you "how" to catch the fish.)
Being a new father, I have received several books on being a successful dad but I haven't found the time to read beyond the first few pages of any of them. I read MAN UP! from cover to cover in three sittings and found it quite interesting, funny, and thought provoking. The key will be to reread the book from time to time to gauge your (and my) progress.
MAN UP! addresses very serious topics and uses "no holds barred" language at times because, frankly, guys sometimes need that to get the point. The book stresses spousal communication, parenting "alignment," and how effectively your budding rug-rats will "divide and conquer" your sanity unless you and your spouse's parenting philosophies are in sync. Being in the society we live in today, most of us either know (or are) someone who will benefit from this book. Whether it's needing a refresher on parenting skills or looking for a solid fathering foundation to build upon, this book will definitely put you on track.
Guys - buy one for yourselves and for your buddies with kids. Wives - buy one for your husbands or tell your girlfriends about it. Parents (and soon-to-be grandparents) - buy some for your sons and sons-in-law. And for people who see parents in church who can't control their little heathens, *please* slip a copy into their bag when no one else is watching. Trust me - everyone else will thank you for it!
I plan on implementing each of the tactics outlined in MAN UP! as I continue along the journey of raising mini-me's. And I know for a fact that the strategies work... because they shaped who my sisters and I are today. I guess you could say we were test dummies before anyone knew there would be a book about how we were raised. MAN UP! is a great addition to a Dad's fathering arsenal. Dad hopes you agree!
I wish that this book, Man Up by Dennis Daniel had been available while I was helping to raise my family. From a woman’s viewpoint, the topics covered in the book clearly discusses the roles that each family member plays in the process of guiding kiddos toward becoming successful adults.
I recommend Man Up to anyone who has the responsibility of rearing a child (of any age) in today’s world. My son who has a 14-year-old son, my son-in-law with a 10-year-old son and a friend who is expecting his first son will all be receiving copies of this book for Father’s Day this year.
This book is intended for guys who will be fathers in the near future or who are new to parenthood. Dennis writes in easy to understand language with a fluency which he acquired through his own experiences - his prose is uncomplicated which most guys can understand and relate to. The composition of the prose is simple and easy to consume and content is straight from his heart. Through this book Dennis tries to inspire an entire generation which often do not take responsibility of the kids they procreate - this inspiration is required because we have an entire generation who do not understand the responsibilities of parenthood. Sometimes he uses tough language but at other times he talks about the value of love and emotional care of a child. I think a lot of people can gain from this book and use it as a guide book.
Read it. Profit by it.
